Statement By Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman In Observation Of Memorial Day
NEW YORK -- Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman released the following statement today in observation of Memorial Day.
"On this Memorial Day, we honor the generations of heroic Americans who have sacrificed their lives to defend our country. Today we are reminded that, although they lost their lives in the performance of their service, our fallen patriots were also mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters. Words cannot express the profound depth of gratitude we owe to them and their families.
"Let us come together, to honor America's heroes, and to share the burden of grief collectively in the hope that we can offer a small measure of peace to the families who have lost so much. Let us memorialize their service not just in words, but by standing up for the brave men and women in uniform who continue to serve our country every day, and by fulfilling our moral obligation to fight for the wounded warriors here at home.
"It is our duty to protect those who have protected us with unrivaled courage, integrity and professionalism, and give them back all they have given to this great nation."
