New Environmental Guide Available From Attorney General's Office

On Earth Day, Attorney General Spitzer released a new publication “A Citizens’ Guide to Environmental Information in New York State.” The guide is a comprehensive listing of national, state and local environmental agencies, along with not-for-profit environmental organizations across the state. The guide includes a county by county breakdown of environmental resources.

“It is particularly fitting that we issue this guide on Earth Day,” said Spitzer. “It is citizen action that makes this state and country strong. Particularly, in the environmental area, citizens are often the true leaders. We issue this guide to improve the important partnership between citizens and their government.”

Publication of the guide was hailed by good government groups, including the New York State League of Women Voters, whose legislative director, Barbara Bartoletti, said: “This Citizens’ Guide will be an invaluable tool for every New Yorker who cares about a clean environment. The League of Women Voters applauds Attorney General Spitzer for this important contribution to participatory citizen ship in our state.”
